Review: Aura Mugler by Thierry Mugler

I love a beautiful perfume bottle, as tricky as some of these may be to store, and there is none other more gorgeous than the new Aura Mugler by Thierry Mugler. And that's even before I start talking about the scent itself!

The bottle was an idea proposed by Thierry Mugler and actually sculpted by an artist prior to being produced industrially. This dark green prism looks like a beautiful jewel, given it's emerald colour, but is actually a heart set in an M, wearing it like a crown - isn't it just beautiful? I also love how a little shift in position can totally change the colour of the bottle -  just like a gem!

The perfume contains three hearts:
Instinctive heart - tiger liana
Botanical heart - rhubarb leaf and orange blossom
Animal heart - bourbon vanilla and wolfwood

These all come together to create a juicy bloom of crisp woody freshness. It's a combination of sweetness with the vanilla, fresh forest leafiness with the rhubarb leaf, woody smoke from the tiger liana and wolfwood, as well as a hint of floral from the orange blossom. I love how this evolves on my skin, with almost a slight tart/sour note to it as well that is not unpleasant. I know that it sounds odd, but I've come to expect unique things from Mugler perfumes, and I can definitely say that this doesn't disappoint.

This retails for:
  • $99 for 30 ml
  • $139 for 50 ml
  • $179 for 90 ml
Make sure you get your hands on this to have a sniff - it is just gorgeous!
